A frenectomy, also called frenulectomy, is a simple surgical procedure in which we remove the labial (upper lip) or lingual (tongue) frenulum, a muscular connective tissue that prevents an organ from moving too far.

However and particularly in young children, a labial frenulum (or “lip tie”) can sometimes interfere with the proper growth and spacing of the two front teeth, while a lingual “tongue tie” can cause difficulty in speaking or eating. At Forest Lane Dental, we can perform a frenectomy quickly, safely and with minimal pain and healing time, for young children and adults alike!
